We limit occupancy to a 2-person party per clerk, and we currently have 3 clerks working in the office. This will help limit exposure of sensitive details regarding customer transactions.

Although, no appointment is necessary please ensure your paperwork is completely filled out to the best of your ability prior to coming into the office to prevent prolonged wait times.

We do our best to answer phone calls as much as possible, but please understand that we must prioritize the customers in our lobby. Leaving a voicemail with your call back information is best if we are unable to answer your phone call. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please note that as of January 1st, 2025, Non-commercial vehicles are no longer required to obtain a vehicle safety inspection prior to vehicle registration.

Non-commercial vehicles registered in an emissions county must still obtain an emissions inspection prior to vehicle registration, more information available: https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/files/body-files/2024-12-17-Vehicle-Inspection-Changes.pdf

MAIL:

Mail the following Items to 409 S Pecan St, Suite 101, Lampasas TX 76550

  • Renewal notice (keep the owner’s section for your records)
  • Proof of current liability insurance (all out of state insurance submitted will also require limits of liability proving it meets Texas requirements)
  • All fees listed on your renewal notice
    • DO NOT MAIL CASH.
    • Valid driver’s license and phone number required on ALL instate checks and money orders.

    IN PERSON:

    Please bring the following with you to our location at: 409 S Pecan St, Suite 101, Lampasas TX 76550

  • Renewal notice (keep the owner’s section for your records)
    • If you do not have your renewal notice, you can renew using the following:
      • License plate number
      • Vehicle identification number
      • Previous registration receipt
  • Proof of current liability insurance
  • All fees listed on your renewal notice
  • Valid form of ID
    • In addition to the list above of requirements, you must also have written authorization to renew on behalf of someone.
    • To avoid multiple visits to the office please ensure you are listed as a registered owner or listed as a registration renewal recipient.

NOTE* It is the customers responsibility to inform the clerk of any citations received for expired registration prior to completing the transaction. Once the transaction is completed, it cannot be undone.

ONLINE:

Your vehicle registration may be renewed online 90 days prior to the expiration date or up to 12 months after the expiration date if you HAVE NOT received a citation for expired registration. Your expiration month will not change.

There is a two-business day payment processing hold before your sticker is printed. Please allow up to three weeks for processing and mailing.

NOTE**

Please be aware: renewing online allows a 3rd party vendor to process your vehicles registration renewal. Lampasas County Tax Office is not responsible if you do not receive your sticker after the three-week processing and mailing period. If you do not receive your sticker, please complete an application for replacement (VTR-60) and you may be subject to a $6.50 fee. You may apply for a replacement sticker in person, or by mail.

Lampasas County DOES NOT process any transactions over the phone. Registration can be renewed by:

  • Mail

  • In person
  • Drop box- located behind the annex building by the flagpole.
